It flashes sometimes or passes imperceptibly. Lights up and straightens up. A word, a memory, a book read, a grafted fruit tree, paid old debt, enticed smile on a dear face. A crumb of meaning, touch of eternity, the silent co-service to the Creator.
The announcements are not good, but we are still full of plans of all kinds. Perhaps that is why we remembered the words of Edmund Burke: ”In my life, I knew great people and worked with them. I have never seen a plan that has not been improved by the remarks of those who are much less knowledgeable than the person who led them.” Maybe it is time for us to stop and ask about ourselves.
